As Halloween season comes to an end I’ve finished costumes for the year! I had so much this year I got to pattern all the costumes, which I love to do!! They turned out so cute!! I created Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum for an adorable set of two year old twins!

I also created Molly Weasley’s house coat for a good friend of mine.

The last year has been an interesting one starting with heart surgery! I’ve had health problems since I was 12ish with several different diagnose over the years and when I started passing out again last summer I got a new doctor who started from ground zero with all the testing. The most important test turned out to be a simple monitor for 30 days and at day 5 it recorded a 12 second pause and within that recording less than 10 hours later I was in surgery for a pacemaker.  The last year has been a struggle due to the pacemaker I’m not passing out I just frequently land on my butt headache and grey vision and extreme dizziness. So we’ve solved a part of the problem and am working on balancing out the rest of it.
Recently a friend called me a crafting Butterfly! I looked at her and she laughed saying every time she turned around I had a different craft or project I was playing with. Laughing I had to agree with her!  Hi my name is Maile Alicia and I’m a craft ENTHUSIAST!!
I have been sewing since I my first sleep over where I sewed my Lanz nightgown to a shag carpet and our mothers decided we needed lessons J At sixth grade I made my Halloween costume out of lame! Yikes did I dive into the deep end!!!  On my older brothers college tour I taught myself to knit lol that scarf is 12 feet in length and width stitches from 9 inches to 24 inches and back again!  From Girl Scout camp I learned beading and basic jewelry.  In college I continued with my sewing skills with costumes, accessories, and millinery. I actually got to work with Cirque Du Soliel and add to my skills.   While on a road trip across the US I met the sweetest Lady sitting in front of an antique store taught me needle tatt and gave me my first needle and spool of fabric.  I started Scrap booking with my sisters around 8 years ago. I have always carried a sketch pad and pencils or pastels with me.  There are a myriad of other crafts and art that I have played, learned, and taught over the years.

I’m sure there is a world more of crafts for me to attempt take a class and play with. Please send me a line mention your favorite craft maybe I already play and attempted it or hopefully I can learn a new craft!

Tiara's and Tutu's

Who need's toddlers? I got runners!

My sister and some friends last year started running 5k and half marathons. They wanted tutus to be able to run in for this years Tinker Bell half marathon at Disneyland California. So I gamely grabbed my tulle and elastic and went to work.  Oh my goodness making a tutu for a child and making one for an adult two total different tutus!  The same pattern does not should NOT be used!!!!  LOL think Hippo Ballerinas from Fantasmi, needless to say they were not worn.
So enter our next 5K the Dye or Run, this one I got to run.  We again decided we want tutus. So back to the drawing board I went what would look on a verity of sizes both adult and child.  I came to the decision of trying a crinoline style petticoat.  I also decided to not use quit as much yardage. The results were awesome!  The seven yr old's were adorable as were the adults!  So many complements!!!!

Unfortunately ran out of time and the number I was suppose to make jumped from 3 to 12! Yikes so my sisters and mine are the fluffy ballerina style!!  But we h

Fashion Show and tell!

Happy girls are the prettiest ! Audrey Hepburn

I've had this is an idea in mind to be able to share and show my designs, since a warm afternoon last fall when I got to play Scarlet!

I’m incredibly lucky to have a wonderful best friend who has an adorable 2 year old. It also helps that Scarlet loves having her picture taken.

Everyday is a fashion show and the world is your runway……...

I want to capture the magic of childhood to make fun pretty play clothes that are unique and easy to wear. She makes it easy and fun to share.

Happy New Years!!!

Okay, let’s get to it: Its time for honesty (slowly stands up):UMMM:
Hi, my name is Maile. and I’m a procrastinator. I have written many an entry while driving my car or sewing. I have even taken pictures and have ideas for tutorials. Even have a few unfinished sewing projects…

And my news years resolution was to catch up on my paperwork side of my business. This past fall I had a great start at a craft show 12 weekend run and by the third I was treading water and I spent the rest struggling to keep up. I let almost all of the paperwork and computer part of my fledgling business  sit in a stack I now am attempting to organize it and put into the computer. So while I’m working my way through this monstrosity I have created I’m also attempting to polish the webpage I made the week before the craft show started and actually work/write/create this blog. Wish me luck!!!!

ITs a start!

OH goodness, Its started! and now I'm bitting my nails! About a week ago I decided I really didn't want to continue teaching science and wanted to try to open own store, design and create on my own. So I opened an Etsy store pulling from things that I've made over the years. Wow just trying to get myself organized has been a challenge from figuring what I paid for the items to how much time in the creating stage how much I wanted to charge to taking pictures and putting together an inventory list.  Now I'm doing what I want designing and creating but I'm buying fabrics and have expense and nothing is selling!!! I know its only been a week but yikes waiting is not a strong point.  I wonder what am I to do next?  How long can I hang in there?  And what the heck am I doing?????
